Luxe Pack opens its doors to the world of luxury packaging tomorrow

Luxe Pack Monaco 2011 will open its doors at the Grimaldi Forum tomorrow, at the start of a three day event that will highlight some of the most innovative and stylish concepts to hit the luxury packaging market.

The three-day event includes a comprehensive conference programme, an innovation forum, a green forum, the Trends Observer, an exhibition entitled Water, Chocolate and Champagne, together with a comprehensive range of exhibitors covering the cosmetics and fragrance field, together with other luxury consumer segments including wine and gourmet food.

And for the first time, the event will also platform the industry association Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), which was created in the US more than 50 years ago as a means of promoting female leaders in the industry, but is now rapidly spreading in Europe, specifically the UK and France.

The focus on the CEW will include a presentation at 5.30pm on Thursday October 20th, given by prominent association member and practising lawyer Sandra Hazan. She will explain about the association’s ambitions for the future and the way in which it is designed to help women get further in the industry.

Platform for new product launches

Over the years Luxe Pack has also established itself as an important platform for new product launches, and this year there are expected to be record numbers of launches, reflecting the fact that manufacturers are having to innovate in an effort to stay ahead in the tough market conditions.

Some of the biggest industry names in the cosmetics and personal care packaging arena, including Rexam and Albea, will be exhibition on the show floor, where both companies will be rolling out latest product launches targeting the caps and dispenser categories.

On the labels front, Germany-based provider Pago will be showcasing its latest development, including the Holo Impression, which boasts a hologram design that gives a luxury effect for high-quality products.

How to improve lipstick packaging?

The continuing economic crisis has put the lipstick – the symbol of a cheap treat during tough economic times – under the spotlight, leading to plenty of innovation of late. In line with this, packaging provider INCA will be showcasing a new lipstick package that includes a mini-mirror into the design.

Likewise, cardboard and paper giant Stora Enso is launching a new packaging board graded suitably for cosmetic products at the event. Called Performa White, the product has been developed around the renewable board, to give it better environmental credentials.

The CosmeticsDesign editorial team will be at the Luxe Pack event and will be reporting on some of the most eye-catching industry developments during the course of the next week.
