The tube packaging category has managed to expand its footprint further in the European market through new innovations in closures and dispensing, according to the industry body.

The European Tube Manufacturers Association (ETMA) says that tube manufacturers all over Europe have been concentrating on solutions that offer precise applications and precise dosing to offer consumers user-friendly solutions.

“The European tube industry will continue to focus on close co-operation with its partners in the supply chain in future in order to jointly develop trend-setting packaging solutions and product ideas,” said Gregor Spengler, ETMA secretary general.

Convenience and security

Likewise, tube packaging designers have also clued in on convenient opening, easy handling, as well as enhanced security – features that all hit the requirements of cosmetic and personal care consumers.

As an example of these type of solution, ETMA points to one of its member companies, CTL Packaging/Tuboplast Hispania, which has devised an airless dispensing system attached to an extruded plastic tube for the Capture Total Dior range.

The design is earmarked as being innovative, thanks to its special head, which makes the airless metallic pump fit accurately, while the upper jet for the dispenser ensures precise dosing and a clean application.

Combining functionality with aesthetics

The packaging has also been designed to provide enhanced aesthetics, demonstrated by the metallic closure system the hot foil embossed logo on the top of the cap and the fact that the outer layer of the tube has been designed in a lustrous pearl effect.

Another example of innovation in the tubes category is Neopac’s child-resistant version of its conventional Twist ‘n’ Use single-dose pack, which according to the company contains the industry’s smallest certified child-resistant closure.

This design incorporates the child-proof closure with a disposable tube and tamper-proof seal, addressing the dual issues of sustainability and security. The closure consists of both an inner and an outer cap, which allows the closure to be opened in a predetermined way.
