The Precitube line integrates an airless pump system with a tube design which helps protect the product within from contact with oxygen, according to France-headquartered Albéa, previously known as Alcan.
Enhance shelf life and preservative reduction
These qualities help it to enhance shelf life, explained operational marketing director for Albéa Olivier De-Saignes.
“A standard pack, when tested by a final consumer before the purchase, allows air penetration and formula pollution. That is why brands are used to adding many preservatives so that their formula stays as fresh and efficient as wished by formulators,” he told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.
According to De-Saignes, the airless dispenser on the tube protects the formula form oxidation, drying and discolouring.
In addition, he said the dispenser can help brands to reduce the use of preservatives in formulations, ‘thus enabling them to propose ‘natural’ products to their final consumers’.
With five options in the range, the Precitube packaging can be used with a number of different formulas.
The Soft Precitube with a diameter of 30mm, has a soft round shaped actuator which the company claims conveys a pure image, making it a good choice for moisturising products or baby care formulations, De-Saignes explained.
In contrast, the Spray Precitube has been designed to take a spray actuator for use with hair care products, sunscreen products or make-up removers, he added.
Targeting male and female products
The Square Precitube has a diameter of 30mm and the company says it has been designed with male and female face care solutions in mind, as well as sun care.
In contrast, the Mini and Deluxe Precitubes have a choice of two smaller diameters 22mm or 19mm, with the Mini designed to deliver the perfect dosage of the formula and the Deluxe a spatula pump fitting for a massaging effect.
With the spatula like head, the Deluxe in particular has been designed for treatment products for specific facial areas such as eye or lip care products, De Saignes added.
