Azelis to acquire speciality ingredients distributer YDS in the Benelux

Speciality chemicals distributer, Azelis, has announced the acquisition of YDS Chemicals NV, a Belgium-based speciality ingredients distributer.

Specialising in the distribution of personal and home care ingredients, as well as pharmaceutical excipients, speciality food and performance chemicals, YDS will “reinforce Azelis’ existing activities within personal Care andcosmetics​” Inge Declercq, group director of corporate communications at Azelis, told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

The acquisition will add to Azelis’ existing presence in the Benelux which previously consisted of Azelis Benelux, with offices in Oevel and Brussels, and Azelis Interland in the Netherlands.

Further acquisitions is one pillar of Azelis’ three-year business plan for the period 2009-2011, which also includes organic growth and realising internal synergies.

While Declercq said the company was “definitely planning further acquisitions” ​she said no further details could be given at this time.

Azelis claims to have sourcing and distribution channels in every major market around the world, offering chemical producers ‘market penetration, in-depth local knowledge, value-added services and tailored multi-territory solutions’. Declercq added that it “will continue to offer this to all Azelis and YDS customers​”.

“Leading position” in Benelux

YDS will continue to work under its own name meaning current customers will not be affected by the acquisition.
