This year’s Luxe Pack Monaco event intends to give luxury brands practical information and guidance by bringing together specialists to discuss the new ‘environmental labeling’ regulations.

To aid brands in implementing these regulations Luxe Pack has brought together the European Commission in charge of the case, the environmental agency, ADEME, plastics packaging firms association, ELIPSO, and the Federation of Enterprises in Beauty (FEBEA).

European regulations on ‘environmental labelling’

The new European regulation on labeling was initially planned to come into effect as of January 1st 2011, however this has been delayed, with regulations being trialed in France on July 1st 2011.

Despite the delay, many luxury brands have already said that they plan to meet the new regulation for the start of 2011.

An explanation will be given at the event by a European professional body on the European approach to the new regulations, as well as by Francoise Gerardi, managing director ELIPSO Initiatives, who will address the issue from a packating perspective.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 20th October from 14:30 to 15:30.

Environmental and sustainability key concerns for luxury brands

Given the increasing environmental awareness of authorities and consumers, environmental issues have become a core concern for luxury brands.

Therefore the corporate responsibility of luxury and sustainable development is one of the key debates of the Luxe Pack Monaco 2010 event, and is being billed as the ideal platform to discuss and create a new vision of the luxury sector and environmental issues, according to event organisers.

Earlier in the year, CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com reported on how the plan for the event was taking shape, with a specific focus on the new ‘Luxe Pack in Green Award’ designed to award packagers who incorporate sustainable development criteria as defined by a charter, according to the event organisers.

The full event will take place 20-22 October at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, and will feature over 330 exhibitors.

CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com will be present to provide full coverage of the three day show.
