Record numbers at in-cosmetics suggests recession is over for industry
Interactive workshops and record numbers helped create a fitting twentieth anniversary celebration of in-cosmetics, according to the organisers.

At the close of the recent trade show in Paris, CosmeticsDesign-Europe met with exhibition director Lucy Gillam to discuss the highlights of the event.

While the economic downturn figured highly in discussions surrounding last year’s show, in-cosmetics 2010 highlighted an industry fighting back from the recession with 20 per cent more visitors than the previous record and just under 600 exhibitors.

The new interactive scientific workshops on preservatives and formulating for increased efficacy were a success, according to Gillam, who said that this smaller interactive format was a successful way of educating people on difficult issues.

This year’s event also included an awards ceremony for the first time, where the organisation awarded Dr. Alain Khaiat a lifetime achievement award for his 40 year career in the industry.

“We felt it was about time we recognised some of the outstanding contributions to this industry,” she said.
