Sarantis Group, a producer and distributor of consumer products, has signed a distribution agreement with Turkish soap and personal care products manufacturer, Evyap.

Under the terms of the agreement, which came into effect in January 2010, Greece-based Sarantis will distribute Evyap’s products in Romania and Poland.

Eleni Pappa, investor relations manager for Sarantis Group, told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com that the company will mainly be distributing soap-based products.

Evyap is responsible for 70 per cent of the total soap exportation of Turkey, according to the company, and in addition to its Turkish manufacturing facilities, has been manufacturing soap in Egypt since 2002.

Building on existing relationship with Evyap

Although the agreement marks the first time Sarantis has distributed Evyap’s products, it builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies as Evyap has been the exclusive distributor of Sarantis’ product in Turkey since 2007.

According to Pappa, Romania and Poland represent two important markets for Sarantis Group, and are countries in which the company already has a foothold.

“Sarantis has a very strong presence in these two markets through subsidiaries and already possesses a powerful distribution network there,” she said.

After Greece, Romania and Poland are the two strongest markets in terms of sales for Sarantis Group, Eleni said, as they account for 23 per cent and 17 per cent of total group sales respectively.

Strong presence in Eastern Europe

Sarantis Group distributes its products worldwide, and has subsidiaries in seven Eastern European countries; Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), and Hungary.

“About 57 per cent of Sarantis Group’s total turnover is realized in our foreign markets (Eastern Europe region),” Eleni said.
