Shampoo formulation designed to fight hair loss launched by Fenchem

China-based ingredients supplier Fenchem has launched a formulation for shampoo products designed to help stop hair loss.

The company claims the formulation contains a number of active herbal ingredients and can be formulated into hair care products, particularly shampoos.

Vitamin C, amino acids, essential oils and other ingredients have been included in the offering that Fenchem maintains can improve blood circulation and therefore help fight hair loss, as well as activating hair follicles, and removing grease.

Concentrating on the US and European markets with the product, Fenchem is hoping to tap into the ever growing demand for natural products and ingredients.

Expansion into cosmetics

The company has its roots in food ingredients but late 2008 said it intended to grow its business in the cosmetics sector.

Although, many of its food ingredients had already been used in cosmetic formulations the company had not made specialised efforts on the market.

Last year saw a number of launches directed at cosmetics companies including sodium hyaluronate ingredient HyaMax and a skin whitening ingredient based on ellagic acid.

Ellagic acid is a naturally occurring polyphenol derived from the gallnut, which has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years.

Fenchem said its in vitro tests indicated that the ingredient’s efficacy is probably derived from its ability to inhibit the melanocytes and melanin synthesis.
