Removable pumps to allow for easy recycling unveiled by MWV
The company has presented an improvement to its popular perfume pump, Melodie Clikit IP. The option to personalize the pump itself is now available to brands, which have access to a variety of designs, decorative finishes, and an unlimited colour range.
This development allows the perfume pump to be transformed into an integrated component of the final product by matching its colour scheme and pattern to the brand’s image, the company said.
Speaking to CosmeticsDesign, Sandy Gregory marketing manager for fragrance at MWV said that replacing the anodized aluminum component with injected plastic offers “the same aesthetic quality and performance at a lower cost.”
In addition, the introduction of a threaded ferrule which allows the pump to be easily separated from the glass bottle, has extended the offer of the Melodie range. “This is really a solution which allows the components to be recycled,” said Gregory.
She added that some customers have initiatives with end users that promote sustainability by encouraging the consumer to return the packaging to the store, which can then be refilled or recycled.
A cost-cutting and time-saving innovation has been debuted at Luxepack in the form of a telescopic insert which allows the length of extensions within the spray cap to be customized.
According to Gregory, one third of the time traditionally taken to develop customized extensions is needed and in terms of capital investment, just 20 per cent of what it used to cost.
MWV also unveiled new versions of existing products within their dispensing products portfolio.
Snap-on and screw-top versions of Aria and Prelude, claimed to be market-leading pumps, are now available with two new overshells and two new overcaps, which, according to MWV, can be combined to deliver a specific look and feel to the pump.
A variety of applications including hot-stamping, lacquering and metallization are available to allow further decorative customization.
A unique feature of the Aria and Prelude products, according to Eva Martín, marketing manager for MWV Beauty and Personal Care Europe, is the development of a PBT accumulator.
Describing the technology, Eva Martín told CosmeticsDesign that traditionally, polypropylene is used, but compatibility issues with some of the ingredients contained in cosmetic formulas had arisen. With the use of a PBT accumulator, however, these compatibility issues have been resolved.
