A conference entitled Cosmetogenomics and Beauty is being held in Paris on October 22 to explain about the latest developments in genetically targeted formulations.

The conference will be conducted entirely in French and is being organised by the Société Francais des Antioxydants (French Society for Antioxidants) as part of a series of conferences themed around Innovations and Perspectives.

The purpose of the conference is to discover whether or not the industry should be making preparations for the development of personal care products that incorporate more targeted technology, creating a more personalized product.

The impact of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics

Working on the pretext that every individual has their own unique set of genes, the conference will look at how the study of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics has been used to develop ingestable products that are targeted at the cellular level.

It will then explore how this know-how can be translated into the cosmetics field, particularly for treatments that target skin and skin ageing.

The conference will look at various approaches for this area, including oral and topical cosmetics, plastic surgery, regenerative medicines and stem cell treatments.

Conference speakers

Conference speakers will include Dr B Bernard, of L’Oreal research, Dr F Puch of the University Joseph Fourier, in Grenoble and Professor E Tschachier, scientific director for CERIES, Chanel.

The programme will start off with a presentation about latest developments in the areas of nutrigenomic and nutrigenetics, followed by presentations about cosmetogenomics and the areas of both ageing and antioxidants.

Other presentations will look at dermatological gene expression and the best genes to target, as well as the various methods of analysing cosmetogenomics.
