German model and television presenter Heidi Klum plans to sue a German trader ₤100 000 for selling her fragrance too cheaply on Ebay, according to newspaper reports.

According the Daily Star, Klum has complained that the unnamed trader is cheapening her name by selling her brand cut-price on Ebay, without a license.

Klum said that the perfumes, named simply ‘Me’ “carry my name to show that I am fully behind them. I created them A-Z, the scents and design carry my handwriting”.

The trader, based in Geldern, near Cologne contests Klum’s action, stating that he has the legal right to sell the perfumes.

The sale of cosmetics and luxury brands on Ebay has been a prominent point of contest of late, with big brands such as L’Oreal and LVMH also claiming that the discounted sale of their goods on the auction site damages brand image.

The court case will take place on the 14th July. No-one from LR Health and Beauty Systems, the manufacturer of Klum’s fragrances, was available to comment before publication.
