Recyclable perfume bottles, a new move for Valois packaging
With crimp-on pumps it is hard to remove the aluminium content of the packaging thus making it difficult to recycle the glass.
Valois’ screw-on pumps, based on the Réplica and VP4 motors, can be removed easily when the fragrance is finished and thrown away separately, and the glass part can be recycled, claims the company.
“The option to separate the glass from the pump has not been a priority for the brand in selling their products, however this is now changing,” said Valois’ product marketing and innovation manager Patrick Bousquel.
Luxury not sacrificed for green
In addition to coming in a range of sizes from 5ml to 100ml, the screw-on pumps have the same metal and anodised aluminium finishes as their crimp-on cousins.
This, the company claims gives a luxurious feel, meaning that being green is not incompatible with aesthetics.
“Screw on pumps are usually bigger, higher and sometimes mix plastic and metal, because they were designed to spray body products and deodorants but not fragrances,” said Bousquel.
"Valois' natural spray pumps are discreet, all metal and as luxury as the classical luxury fragrance pumps," he added.
T10 pump tip
Another early summer launch for the company is a new sealed tip for actuator pumps.
The T10 tip is designed to be used with the metal Evolux range for eye, lip and facial beauty fluids, as well as for products sensitive to discoloration.
According to the company, the tip is completely sealed, opening only under the pressure of the cream when it is pumped out of the bottle.
As this tip then reseals after the ejection of the cream, the formulation is completely protected from external contamination, Valois claims.
In addition, it will stop the product from drying out within the nozzle, which can be both unsightly and interfere with the working of the pump.
Furthermore, the T10 tip can be customized and manufactured in any colour according to customer preference, Valois added.
