Clariant launches natural-based emulsifier at in-cosmetics

Ingredeints provider Clariant has launched a new emulsifier, Hostacerin SFO, which is based on sunflower-oil and boast eco-friendly credentials.

Marketed as an ingredient for use in all skin care products, it has been developed as a renewable, vegetable-based and GMO-free formulation, on top of being manufactured using energy-saving processes.

The company says that the oil used in the formulation is made from high oleic sunflower oil which is extracted in one single step and at a low temperature, using a method known as tranesterification.

Certified through Ecocert, it is said to offer excellent skin compatibility and at doses of 1 – 3 per cent it can offer effecient blending properties for skin care products as diverse as under-eye cream with Q10 to complex sun care formulations.
