Spain-based ingredients provider Provital says it is targeting the German and Austrian markets with the opening of a new commercial office.

The premises were opened at the beginning of this month in the city of Greven, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Northern Germany.

Describing the region as a key market, the company has appointed Hagen Doring to head up the operation, drawing on extensive experience in a variety of commercial fields and has worked as international sales manager for Dr. Suwelack Skin & Health Care.

Better platform from which to target Austria and German

The company says that the new operation will provide a better platform from which to target the two markets by enabling it to offer a better service to its customers and positioning it to better promote itself.

Germany is the largest commercial market in Europe, making it a very important region for personal care suppliers to target.

In particular the naturals market has proved hightly succesful in Germany, where it is now estimated to account for 10 per cent of all personal care purchases.

Specialising in natural actives

Provital specialises in plant extract natural active ingredients, a factor which should position it well to supply the growing number of small- and medium-sized German companies.

This is the fifth subsidiary for the company, which already has sales operations in Spain, France and Mexico, together with a recently opened office in Poland.

The company says that it has been gradually building up its business to give it a more international flavour and further international expansion is likely.
