A collagen boosting peptide and an emulsifier are among the new ingredients Evonik will be presenting at China’s PCHI show next month.

Collagen activating peptide

Tego Pep 4-17 is a tetrapeptide that activates collagen production, stimulating the dermal filling, repair and renewal mechanism of the skin, according to the Germany-based company.

Suitable for anti-ageing formulations, the inclusion of Tego Pep 4-17 will lead to increased elasticity and improve the appearance of fine lines, Evonik claims.

This is the first ingredient to result from the company’s collaboration with US-based peptide specialist Helix Biomedix, and the class of ingredients will be a focus for the company in the future, Evonik’s Geraldine Strutz told CometicsDesign.

“Peptides help our customers to serve market trends. We are convinced due to our novel in-silico approach to have found a highly active anti-aging ingredient,” she said.

Silky silicone

Another ingredient to be showcased at the event is the ABIL Care XL 80. Launched late last year this silicone-based emulsifier promises to give formulations a velvety silky feel whilst having good emulsifying and stabilizing properties.

According to Evonik, the ABIL Care XL 80 can be included in a range of creams, lotions and sprays and is compatible with a wide variety of active ingredients and UV filters.

Cosmetic wipes

Two other ingredients in the company’s Tego range, Tego Wipe Lux and Tego Wipe Flex, are to be presented in Guangzhou.

“The global cosmetic wipes market is interested in PEG-free, cold processable concentrates which can be easily diluted by simple stirring. These two products are the perfect technology to serve this market,”explained Strutz.

Tego Wipe Lux is a combination of a medium viscous cosmetic oil and natural cotton seed oil which can be used in the preparation of oil in water impregnating liquids for cosmetic wet wipes.

Designed to leave skin feeling soft and smooth, the company claim the concentrate can be combined with a good range of actives.

Tego Wipe Flex is an emulsifying system suitable for the formulation of oil in water impregnating liquids. The technology gives manufacturers flexibility as it has been designed to tolerate the addition of a wide variety of oils, surfactants, emulsifiers and active ingredients.
