Alban Muller is launching an online encyclopedia for beauty and food professionals featuring technical information on 250 plants.

The database is designed to help formulators and marketers carry out their research and find the best ingredients in the fields of cosmetics, food supplements and well-being.

Available on the internet in French and English for €375 a year, the database brings together information on 250 plants with new ones to be added each month.

Plant information

Entries will include tabs for each plant including characteristics, a botanical description, history, a bibliography and an iconography.

More specific information covering plant parts, chemical composition and possible uses will also be made available.

To simplify navigation of the database, Alban Muller created a search engine that allows users to find plants by climate zone, habitat, morphological type and symbolism or legend.

Users can also search for plant parts by chemical compound or by entering specific properties such as moisturizing or softening.

Consultancy service

The creation of the plant database follows the launch of a consultancy service this summer at Alban Muller to help others design and produce natural and eco-friendly products.

With over thirty years of experience in the development of natural ingredients and finished products, Alban Muller is offering assistance to companies working in cosmetics, food and herbal medicines.

Alban Muller will help out with everything from selecting raw materials to choosing packaging materials. It will look particularly closely at how companies can formulate and manufacture their products so as to minimize their environmental impact.
