Italian packaging provider Stropol claims that its new snap-on hinged caps can reduce overall packaging costs for a variety of personal care products.

The company says that the essence of this achievement lies in the fact that the one-piece caps are designed to snap on to the neck of a standard PET preform.

This is the type of preform that is produced by the billion every year for the food and beverage industry, and in the personal care segment is most commonly used for products such as shampoos, conditioners and hand creams, to name but a few.

One size fits all?

Until now the only commercially available caps to fit standard preforms have been ordinary screw caps, most commonly used for beverages.

The company says that although PET preforms with PCO, BPF and BPF Light neck forms have become commodity items in recent years, they are still used to blow almost any shape of bottle.

However, it claims that this can be navigated by using a standard preform to blow a custom bottle in-house, saving on material costs, storage space and internal logistics.

Simply snaps on

This means that its one-piece cap is simply snapped onto the standard neck-form, while also proving to be an excellent leak-proof seal because of the tailor-made fit.

The range comes in 6 different hinged caps, each weighing 5.5 to 9.5 grams, and there are a further five new models still to be launched.

Likewise five of the six caps are interchangeable for the same bottle profile, while two colour bi-injected caps are also available.
