Virginia-based ESS Technologies has launched a new tube filler that is said to fill and close up to 100 metal or plastic tubes a minute.

As well as industry-leading speed, the equipment also offers a small footprint together with a stainless steel frame that means easy cleaning and no tools necessary for changeovers.

The Model TF 100 Automatic Tube Filling and Closing Machine forms part of a complete production line, lending itself to metal, plastic, polyfoil and cassette infeed tubes of diameters up to 50mm.

Meets cGMP standards

Designed to meet cGMP standards, the equipment has moving mechanical parts that are based on self-lubricated components, as well as a touchscreen display that allows the machine operator to adjust all the operational functions.

The machine also has a 12-position turntable with bottom-up filling controls to raise and lower the filling settings of the tubes, depending on what type of product is being used.

Likewise several tube closing methods are available, including fold, double fold or saddle fold and hot jaws for metal tubes or hot air sealing for plastic tubes.

Fully integrated packaging

The equipment has also been designed to be easily integrated into a full packaging line, to compliment case packging, cartoning and palletizing equipment.

Safety couplings also help to protect mechanical parts, which the company says should prevent overload, assuring a longer life for the equipment.

At the beginning of this month ESS announced that its take-over by private-equity firm Imperium Partners Group was sealed, after the deal was first announced in February.

The move means that the company is now private and its shares are no longer traded on the NASDAQ Global Market.
