Sun Chemical, an international producer of inks and pigments, has
released a range of pearlescent pigments in shadow form, for use in
cosmetics and personal care products.

The range, SunPearl Shadows are available in pearlescent shades of silver, gold, blue, pink, green and bright gold, for use in color cosmetics such as eye shadow, lipstick and nail polish, and other personal care products. The pigments allow cosmetics companies to create color cosmetics that change colour when viewed from different angles, without requiring a white base, according to the company. "The shadow colors we create provide intense, dark interference color effects that deliver a wide range of sophisticated colors when combined with other colorants", said Sanjoy Ganguly, of the performance pigments group, sun chemical. The new SunPearl Shadows range complements the company's previous offering, SunPearl Pearlescents, which come in a full range of colors and particle sizes. The shadows consist of combinations of a thin, smooth layer of black iron oxide precipitated onto the surface of a titanium dioxide coated natural mica iridescent pigment. According to the company the pigments adhere strictly to the industry's heavy metal restrictions and specifications, following both US and EU standards.
