Borealis, a plastic packaging provider for the cosmetics industry
has created a new pail system that is said to significantly shorten
production cycles - whilst also benefiting the environment and
reducing packaging costs.

The pails, which are suited to family-sized toiletry products, have been created with a new polypropylene, BH374MO, which was designed specifically to meet industry demand for packaging products that are of high quality, yet cost effective.

Borealis's polypropylene has a higher than normal melt flow rate (MFR) of 45 that is achieved through low its viscosity. As a result it enables the pail packaging to be easier and faster to process, allowing for a packaging concept that reduces per unit packaging weights.

In turn the company states that these functions creates greater storage and transport benefits for the packaging industry.

According to the company the material is lightweight while having a high stiffness and good anti-static performance that allows for ease of travel, providing manufacturers with processing efficiency.

Likewise the properties of the polypropylene gives the pails increased stacking potential due to the high stiffness the material creates, which also allows for thinner wall design that then reduces the weight of the pail.

In addition the company states that the material is able to prevent the potential collapse of a pail base caused by high liquid content and rough handling.

The Austria based company, which also provides packaging concepts for the chemicals, food, catering and pharmaceutical industries, states that due to the materials 100 per cent recyclable mono-material solution it also aids the recovery of pail packaging waste during production and after use.
