New partnership set to benefit cosmetic surgery after care

the ever-increasing consumer demand for corrective surgery
The company has joined forces with ABI Dermaceuticals to devise a professional skin care range that is intended for use after clinical and aesthetic procedures.
It provide light therapy treatments using an infra-red and visible red device, and hopes to target the many consumers who continue to turn to more drastic measures to encapsulate the 'perfect' look, supplemented by the new skin care range.
This upsurge in cosmetic surgery procedures has increased the need for more targeted after care treatments, with such skin care ranges aing to help heal and mend the skin following the intense light therapy treatments.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), there has been a 444 per cent increase in the total amount of cosmetic procedures since 1997 to date.
During the same period, surgical procedures have increased by 119 per cent, however, non-surgical treatments are currently coming out on top, with an increase of 726 per cent.
Meanwhile 22,041 procedures were carried out in Britain in 2005, according to The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, a 34.6 per cent increase from 2004.
Mike Poling, President of Lightwave Technologies, said "For quite some time our customers have been asking us to recommend products to use in conjunction with light therapy treatments, and up until now I did not feel comfortable recommending another product".
The product line will consist of an exfoliating enzyme wash, an antioxidant with caviar, a moisturizing antioxidant with copper peptide complex and a firming peptide crème with 15 per cent Matrixyl 3000.
It is designed to be affordable and available to the light therapy customer, with Poling adding, "This transaction represents an exciting new partnership in the aesthetics industry".
Aftercare treatments can be taken as an oral capsule or as a topical cream, with many major companies such as Kinerase, Obagi and Gly Derm all creating niche product ranges that focus on aftercare.
