Italian salon hair care manufacturer Alfaparf Milano has taken on a
new distributor in the all-important Florida market, where it is
now looking to expand its operations.

The company says it has replaced distributor Cosmert with B.I.P. as its main distributor in the state of Florida, and is now looking to hire more sales representatives as a result.

B.I.P., is a large hair color and hair care products affiliate of BBH Cargo, based in Florida and will now concentrate on distributing Alfaparf salon hair care products throughout the state - expanding its reach in the Americas, and adding to its current global market portfolio in Asia, Australia and throughout Europe.

Based in Milan, Northern Italy, the Alfaparf company says it takes the influences for its salon hair care range from the Italian fashion houses in the city, aiming its product ranges at a broad selection of hair styles, 'from the ordinary to the couture'.

It specializes in a range of hair care products, including hair color, anti-aging hair balms, hair nutrition, curative ranges, color maintenance, as well as a wide range of salon formula shampoos, conditioners, lotions, crèmes, masks and styling products.

The move to up its distribution channels in the US market is significant for two reasons - namely that Florida is one of the most populated states in the US and therefore one of the leading consumer hubs in the country.

Secondly, it is also chasing a fast growing market for salon hair care products, both in the US and worldwide. Last year the biggest news in this segment came when Alberto-Culver spun off its Sally Beauty salon hair care business in a deal that was estimated to be worth $3bn.

Currently the global hair care market is enjoying strong growth which has pushed its value above the $5bn mark. Markets that have sustained strong growth in recent years have included the US and both Spain and the UK in Europe.

The growth of the salon hair care market has mirrored the growth of increasingly niche hair care products, with consumers going to salons and consulting professionals on what treatments to use for specific hair conditions, including frizz, dandruff and combination hair conditions.
