Cosmar embarks on international expansion

On the back of rising international demand for contract
manufacturing services, Dutch-Indonesian company PT Cosmar says it
is embarking on a second round of expansion to meet customer
demands.

Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, the company specialises in the contract manufacturing of decorative cosmetics, personal care and skin care products.

It says that expansion plans are being implemented to meet customer requirements for local brands in Indonesia, as well as multinational companies in Japan, Europe and the US.

Company spokesperson Tim Henssen told CosmeticsDesign​ that the company works with some of the leading global players on the market, although it is unable to reveal the names of those companies due to contractual obligations.

He added that the company is in the advanced stages of planning to build new production facilities in Indonesia as well as establishing satellite facilities in key international markets as a means of meeting demand.

Construction of the first of these facilities is due to begin at the start of 2007, with further satellite facilities due to come on line during the course of the next two years.

The company became operational three and a half years ago and under the leadership of CEO Juanita Aditiawan has become the leading private label and contract manufacturer for the Indonesian market.

However, with expansion now starting to focus on global markets, the company is anticipating a big increase in its operations, hence the need to take its operations into the next phase of its evolution.

The company says that its growth was boosted after being awarded cGMP and ISO 9001-2000 manufacturing standards, which has been particularly valuable in helping to forge business relations outside Indonsia.

Cosmar will be exhibiting at the Cosmoprof show in Hong Kong, this November, when it will be featuring some of its latest technologies and concepts.

Another leading international contract manufacturer, UK-based Cosi, says it has undertaken rapid expansion in recent years as it taps into the trend for brand owners to increasingly contract all aspects of manufacturing in a bid to centralize the process, increase synergies, and ultimately, save money.
