Symrise, born out of the merger of fragrance and flavour houses Dragoco and Haarmann & Reimer in February this year, has designed a new fragrance to celebrate the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that ended in New York yesterday.

In honour of 7th on Sixth's 10th anniversary the fragrance ingredients company Symrise created '7th', a 'fruity chypre inspired by classic sophistication', said Symrise head perfumer Maurice Roucel.

Roucel developed the fragrance with Symrise's corporate colours in mind - white, red and black.

'The white accord has bright citrus notes on the top and is blended with white magnolia, the red accord has a bold, sophisticated lily - intoxicating with its spicy, smoky character. The black accord is a warm, woody blend of vanilla, amber and patchouli - infused with musk and creamy sandalwood,' added Roucel.

"Fashion and fragrance are a perfect marriage," said Fern Mallis, executive director of 7th on Sixth and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "The first thing every designer wants after they tackle the runway is a signature fragrance." We are thrilled to have Symrise on board to help make this happen for more designers."

In the highly competitive world of fragrance ingredients, the newly merged company - thought to be capable of sales of €1,245 million - has wasted no time in getting its name out to the industry.
