MCG Pharmaceuticals, a supplier of non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD) resin extract, has set up an online retail platform for its cosmetics products, which will allow it to sell directly to EU consumers.

The company’s MGC Derma brand boasts products containing CBD, which the company says can be used to treat various skin conditions, including acne, psoriasis, eczema and dry skin.

CBD also has various health applications, with studies having shown it can alleviate seizure disorders, anxiety and inflammation.

MCG’s online platform will allow the company to reach consumers in the EU, and other countries globally where products containing CBD are legal.

Multi-channel retail

Finfeed.com, a financial news service, quotes MGC’s boss as stating the e-commerce platform has been introduced to supplement the company’s already-established wholesale retail model.

"The establishment of an online retail platform complements the company's existing wholesale sales channels and allows MGC Pharmaceuticals to significantly accelerate its direct-to-customer product sales strategy," MGC co-founder and MD, Nativ Segev, reportedly said.

Market-leading ambition

Segev stated that MCG intends to situate itself at the forefront of what he predicts will be the rapid growth in the cannabis industry.

With the global interest in cannabis based products growing rapidly and the large opportunity in the $US460 billion dollar cosmetics market, MGC Pharmaceuticals is well positioned to be the market leader in the cannabis industry.”

MCG is registered in Australia, and reportedly bases its European operations in Slovenia. The company hopes to develop its Australian operations up ahead, with plans afoot to obtain a licence there to open a legal growing facility.

Along with strengthening the retail platforms for its existing product range, MCG is reportedly also in the process of developing over 50 new products, which it intends to launch onto the global market in the coming months.
