Skin-identical ceramides as versatile ingredients
The outermost layer of mammalian skin, the stratum corneum (SC), acts as epidermal permeability barrier, efficiently protecting our body from excessive water loss and external challenges.  The SC is composed of cornified cells surrounded by a complex, highly organized lipid matrix containing mainly ceramides, free fatty acids and cholesterol.Attendees of the talk will receive a general overview of the fundamental roles ceramides play for epidermal barrier function.
