Innovative beauty startup, Silk Therapeutics, releases an exclusive collection to mark its partnership with luxury London-based department store, Harrods.

Founded in 2013 by Dr Gregory Altman and Dr Rebecca Lacouture, Silk Therapeutics is a clean, clinical-grade, silk-based skincare brand.

Through adopting its patented approach to high-quality and unique skin care 一 using its activated silk technology 一 the indie beauty name has caught the eye of the long-standing and prestigious shopping hub.

Exclusive product range

To signify its pairing, Silk Therapeutics has launched an exclusive collection complete with three new products. The expanded range hit Harrods Pharmacy on 24th June.

Its hydrating body enrich moisturiser, gel cleanser and lightweight Nurture+ daily moisturiser will support the brand’s strategic focus and positioning in the UK market by appealing to visitors of the tourist hotspot.

With its mission to advance the world's health with its patented activated silk chemistry platform, the US-based brand’s collection comprises antioxidant-rich serums, nourishing moisturisers and at-home spa treatments.

Patented silk-based technology

Originally formulated to treat the skin of people undergoing chemotherapy, the company has expanded and evolved to improve the health and radiance of all skin types, including sensitive skin. Based out of Boston, the beauty name continues to work with non-profit partners to donate its products to patients in need.

Using pure silk protein dissolved in water, the brand deploys its proprietary activate silk process to work with the skin’s collagen.

Leveraging the natural trend, Silk Therapeutics strives to optimise the presence of natural active ingredients in its products. Limiting the number of ingredients per product is also high on the brand’s agenda as it considers sustainability and ethics. As a result, Silk Therapeutics strives to deliver clinically-proven results with no more than 12 ingredients per each formulation.

Good for the skin, body and world

Talking about her excitement at the brand’s partnership with Harrods, Dr. Rebecca Lacouture, co-founder, president and COO, Silk Therapeutics enthuses: “We remain immensely grateful for this partnership with Harrods — proof that with science, nature and intent, we can create skincare products that are good for the skin, body and world without compromise.”

The company’s beauty items are made from pure, natural silk in liquid form. The use of activated silk is biodegradable and biocompatible, and an alternative to chemistries commonly found in skin care products that are often undesired by consumers in today’s beauty market.
