France-based Roquette is broadening its focus beyond the food, nutrition and health markets with the expansion of its Beauté by Roquette offering.

The division is focused on high-performing and natural-based ingredients for cosmetics, and says that this aim will be reinforced by its strategic partnership with US-based Sytheon, an innovative specialty ingredients company focused on the personal care market.

The reinforcement of the existing partnership will serve to accelerate innovation and enable Roquette Beauté to benefit from Sytheon’s expertise in this field, particularly its focus on sustainable beauty.

Partnership aims to heighten cosmetics expertise

The partnership has already resulted in two active ingredient, and at the forthcoming in-cosmetics Global event, taking place in Paris April 2-4, the company will be highlighting three new plant-based, high performing ingredients at its booth.

“This partnership represents a great innovation accelerator for Roquette Beauté, as we intend to further develop our business by creating brand-new ingredients for the cosmetics market,” said Bénédicte Courel, General Manager of the Cosmetics Business at Roquette.

“This collaboration will also contribute to offer an even more diversified and high-quality product portfolio to our clients and customers in the coming years. We can also rely on Roquette’s knowledge, our strong R&D and go-to-market capabilities, our exposure to a rich innovation ecosystem and our global commercial network.”

Roquette says the new range of ingredients is focused on improving sensorial benefits and combining hydration with skin barrier repair, as well as providing smooth and lasting protection for both hair and skin.

The company launched its beauty division one year ago, and executives say that this most recent investment in the division combines stronger capabilities that aim to give it recognition as an expert in plant-based cosmetic ingredients.

Ambitions to expand its cosmetics business

Indeed, the company has ambitions to continue growing its beauty business, stating that it wants to develop new ingredients and solutions that do not yet exist.

Aiming to have a beauty ingredients division that is visible in Asia, The Americas and Europe, the company says that the initiative will be spearheaded by the opening of a laboratory and collaborative space that will be opened in the Paris area in 2020.

The move to expand into the natural ingredients market taps into a category that is continuing to grow enormously, with growth in the natural and cosmetic products continuing to top double digit figures in markets throughout North America and Western Europe.
