Advanced Dynamics chosen to label cosmetics brand

UK-based Advanced Dynamics has been chosen to label a beauty product manufacturer’s new range due to its improved efficiency by replacing manual labelling with an automatic side wrap label applicator from the Pack Leader range of equipment.

Bradford-based Advanced Dynamics, the sole UK distributor of Pack Leader’s high quality label applicators, installed the flexible PL-501 at Crystal Spring’s facility in Hampshire, to meet increasing demand for its popular range of natural cosmetics.

Crystal Spring is a supplier of natural skin care, hair care and toiletries, and were aware that image is critical for cosmetics and toiletries, as correctly positioned labelling helps promote brand awareness.

“Our product range is designed to stand out on the shelves so the labels must be of consistently high quality and accurately placed,” says managing director Thomas James Laird, who reiterates the importance of working with a labelling firm that has a strong knowledge of the cosmetics industry.

Meeting the challenge

The PL-501 purchased by Crystal Spring is designed to apply pressure sensitive labels to round containers at up to 40m per minute.

Malcolm Little, managing director of Advanced Dynamics, explains that for manufacturers it can be a tricky business deciding which equipment best suits budget and operational needs seeing as beauty products come in such a huge variety of different-sized bottles and containers.

“The challenge in the cosmetics and toiletries industry is sourcing easy-to-use systems that can seamlessly interact between brand labels, complex bottle shapes and materials but don’t cost the earth,” he says.

Pack Leader’s range of fully-automated labelling systems, selected in this deal,  can be stand alone or integrated into a line, whether glass or plastic, and is designed for use in a variety of sectors including cosmetics, toiletries, pharmaceuticals and food as well as manufacturers of oils and other liquids.
