Bluestar Silicones showcasing new additions to Mirasil range at in-cosmetics

Bluestar Silicones is launching two new additions to its Mirasil range for cosmetics applications at in-cosmetics 2012, which is taking place in Barcelona from 17-19 April.

Mirasil Bright and Mirasil ADMH B100 are hypoallergenic ingredients primarily destined for use in hair care products, and are supported by efficacy data from Italian independent testing laboratory Farcoderm.

Silicone products play a key role in hair care product quality. Our two innovations go even further, offering new benefits and unparalleled performance,” said Grégoire Amice, home and personal care global market manager at Bluestar Silicones.

Mirasil ADMH B100 to sustain colour

According to Bluestar Silicones, the high-performance conditioning agent Mirasil ADMH B100, which is based on original patented technology, effectively sustains colour in dyed hair thanks to its thermal resistance and capacity to absorb free radicals.

Optical analyses carried out by Farcoderm showed that in comparison to untreated hair or hair treated with other products available on the market, Mirasil ADMH B100 was up to five times more effective in preserving colour in dyed hair.

Beyond hair care, Mirasil ADMH B100 has applications in the categories of colour cosmetics and skin care, according to Bluestar Silicones.

Amino oils are presently almost exclusively used in hair care but the efficacy tests done on Mirasil ADMH B100 and its antioxidant and free radicals scavenger effects open new doors in skin care and colour cosmetics for this product family,” Amice told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com

Tests carried out using a cream containing the ingredient at a 3 per cent concentration level showed a four-fold increase in its antioxidant capacities and absorption of free radicals (compared to the same cream without it), demonstrating an ability to delay the effects of aging.

Mirasil Bright to enhance shine

Mirasil Bright is designed to enhance the shine effect of hair care products, with efficacy tests showing its shine effect to be up to 2.6 times greater than other products on the market.

According to Bluestar Silicones, the ingredient also helps formulators of hair care products meet various requirements including long-lasting hold, improved volume and protection against external elements.

The high gloss characteristics of Mirasil Bright also make it suitable for colour cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss, the company highlights.

According to Amice, both products come from technologies used in other industries, and where Bluestar Silicones built up a competency “The idea was to transfer those technologies to personal care and use the efficacy test results obtained from Farcoderm to support claims answering present increasing customer needs: free radical scavenger activity and hair colour protection for Mirasil ADMH B100 [and] hair shine and anti humidity effect on hair for Mirasil Bright,” he explained.
