Demand for bioplastics fuels European Bioplastics focus

As the bioplastics industry continues to thrive, Increasing demand for information exchange will be the main focus of the 6th European Bioplastics Conference.

European Bioplastics, the association of the bioplastics industry in Europe, has announced the conference will take place on 22-23 November 2011 at the Maritim proArte Hotel in Berlin.

“There is an ever-increasing demand for exchanging information and initiating cooperations. The European Bioplastics Conference has established itself as the leading business forum for the thriving bioplastics industry”​, said Andy Sweetman, chairman of European Bioplastics.

Sustainable packaging

Bioplastics marry the benefits of one of the world’s most versatile materials with the advantages of a sustainable source, making it a significant advance in the field of sustainable packaging.

Numerous studies assessing the bioplastics market come to differing conclusions concerning the industry’s growth rate.

However, it would appear that the industry is growing and expanding fast with new companies emerging and product innovation.

Innovation and application development

The European Bioplastics Conference will be attempting to set new standards in presenting the latest industry developments and claims to offer a comprehensive overview over the latest innovations in material and application development.

“We aim to set a new attendance record with 400+ participants in 2011”​ said Hasso von Pogrell, managing director of European Bioplastics.

At last year’s conference, European Bioplastics had over 360 participants from more than 170 companies around the world.

The association states that preparations for the conference taking shape and the ‘Call for Papers’ will be published soon. Registration will be open as of April 2011.
