Axilone designs air-tight foundation compact for fragile formulations

The new case has been designed for formulations containing silicone that dry out easily, or for organic and natural formulations that demand better protection, explained a spokesperson for the company.

When closed, the case is completely air-tight thanks to a flexible part in the centre of the compact, the company claims.

This flexible elastomer part has been inserted between the base of the compact and the basin containing the formulation.

In this way the formulation-containing part of the compact is not rigidly set in place. Therefore, when the lid of the compact is closed, the formulation-containing basin will not obstruct the closure as it perfectly centres itself within the package.

The resulting closure is complete and air-tight, the company claims.

In addition, the compact can be decorated and personalised to fit with a brand’s specifications.

Growth of airless​

Air-tight and airless packaging is a growing trend in the cosmetics and personal care sector as formulators create products that demand more protection from the elements.

Skin care products, in particular anti-ageing formulations, are some of the biggest customers for the airless design manufacturers as fragile ingredients feature highly in the formulations.
