Cosmebio and FPS-Covrec form natural ingredients collaboration

France-based natural and organic cosmetic association Cosmebio and its ingredient supplier counterpart FPS-Covrec, have collaborated in a move aimed at further promoting natural cosmetics, both in France and internationally.

The collaboration has been initiated between Samuel Gabory, President of Cosmebio and Jean-Pierre Barrére, president of France-based FPS-Covrec that will jointly contribute to the further of evolution of this fast moving and still growing industry category.

"Encouraging dialogue between the key players in the natural and organic category is the best way to ensure further progress for the cosmetic industry in this category,"​ said Barrére. 

“Using clearly defined objectives focused on the standardisation of naturals and organics, together with biodiversity, the close collaboration of our organisations will enable us to develop realistic solutions that are acceptable to everyone."

Collaboration forms two working groups

Cosmebio has evolved to become the leading association for the natural cosmetics industry in France, counting more than 400 members who supply ingredients, as well as making and distributing finished products. It also counts a number of international members.

The collaboration between the two groups will see the formation of two working groups that have been designed to work on the two specific areas of collaboration that are most relevant to their individual expertise.

The first group will focus on increasing technological innovation in the area of natural and organic cosmetics, which will be driven primarily according to the criteria ordinated by both ISO and AFNOR – the France-based international  organisation devoted to industry standardisation practices.

Biodiversity forms crucial element of the collaboration

Cosmebio has stated that it will particularly support the members of FPS-Covrec in this group with their focus on implementation crucial standard practices concerning raw materials for ingredients.

The second group will pertain to the equally crucial element of ensuring the protection of biodiversity in all aspects of natural and organic cosmetic production, from raw material sourcing to the finished formula.

This will also include an open forum of communication between the two organisations aimed at exchanging information and ideas that will be crucial to ensuring good practices concerning the area of biodiversity.
