The European Commission estimates the market will reach between €750 and €2000bn by 2015, and areas such as extending shelf life, improving taste and boosting shelf life are improving all the time in a variety of matrices.
"If the package is now the most visible in the market for the use of nanotechnology in food, more and more innovations designed to bring new features nutritional ingredients or finished products," said Vincent Pessey, head of the nanotechologies at Alcimed.
