With the new facility, the company will be able to produce up to 7,500 metric tons of the ingredients a year, used in the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and food sectors.
The company invested $21m in the expansion of the facility and according to Wacker’s Gerhard Schmid it strengthens the company’s market position for cyclodextrins.
As part of the expansion, a byproduct-processing plant has also been constructed, designed to reduce the facility’s steam consumption by 35 per cent.
