The standard, the Verification Framework on Native Natural Ingredients, was designed to help members achieve greater social, environmental and economic sustainability.
A revision phase is now underway and the Union is calling for business’ feedback on how to improve the standard to better promote sourcing 'with respect'.
“As the Union is becoming more known and more companies are starting to join it's important to get the practitioners' views,” executive director Rik Kutsch Lojenga told CosmeticsDesign.
The standard was originally based on the seven principles and criteria developed by the United Nations BioTrade Initiative, explained the Union.
