Creative Outsourcing Solutions International (Cosi) has unveiled two new ranges for its spring/summer 2008 collection, highlighting the importance of synthetic materials in performance colour cosmetics, whilst also adhering to the booming naturals trend.

The company recently held a workshop in Paris highlighting the new colours and products in the two ranges, whilst telling CosmeticsDesign-Europe of its decision to use both natural and synthetic ingredients.

"Whilst we strive to include as many natural ingredients as possible in our ranges, it is nigh on impossible to maintain our high level of performance with all-natural ranges", Bev Paddon, product-marketing manager for Cosi told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.

"We have done our best to phase out undesirable ingredients in order to cater further to our customers with our product ranges", she said.

No doubt the collection of cosmetics most targeted towards the natural and organic market is the Photosymphony range. With all seven products in the range created with colours based on the natural environment, such as 'Earth Silk Foundation'.

The seven products include Berry lip-gloss, Liquid eye gloss, Earth Silk foundation, Botanica eye shadows, Honey lip-gloss, Pebble Dash eye shadows and a Spring Water foundation.

R&D manager Neil Watson stated that the primary influence for ingredient formulation was the natural world, with prebiotics being incorporated into many products.

For example the Earth Silk foundation, which is said to be flake proof, incorporates silk into the formulation, while the Berry lip-gloss harnesses the moisturising properties of Shea Butter and Jojoba.

Likewise, the Honey lip-gloss uses a significant amount of pure honey, and passionflower, in order to provide the lips with a moisturising element that is high in anti-oxidants.

However, the most innovative product in the range could perhaps be the Spring Water foundation, with formulators incorporating filtered waters from Mont Blanc Mountain, which lies between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Haute-Savoie, France.

Cosi created the second range, Playland, with a confectionary theme in mind - developing a six product concept that draws its influence from the pastel and pink colours that are often associated with the 'sweet' industry.

The range has six products that include - Coconut Ice lip gloss, Fondant Fancy lip gloss, Cheeky Jelly blusher, Spun Sugar Sparkle and Play-Dough blush for the cheeks and Eye Candy eye shadow.

The company has stated that new technology was used to create the high performance range. With most powder products being crease free, having long lasting formulas.

Creating its product ranges with its French luxury presitigious brand customers in mind, Cosi has capitalised on the growing consumer need for diverse and innovative products with items such as the blush product that comes in a gel format.

Both ranges will be publicly launched at Cosmeeting, held at Beyond Beauty Paris from 1-4 October 2007.
