The PCHi trade show, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, opens for business next week. We take a look at what’s in store.

The show, which offers industry insights on cosmetics ingredient sourcing and personal care updates, with particular focus on the Chinese market and its place in the global industry, will take place 21 - 23 February 2017.

Located in the Guangzhou Poly World Centre in China, the show anticipates over 15,000 industry visitors and more than 500 exhibitors to be in attendance, with almost 100 conference sessions planned for the event.

According to show organisers, the event conferences will focus on rules and regulations, technologies, packaging and market trends.

Regulatory focus

The show is set to feature presentations from authority and regulatory body experts, who will detail the new requirements and trends affecting Asian cosmetics including China, Japan and South Korea.

National cosmetics regulations in these countries have experienced several industry changes recently, and regulation is set to be a hot topic for the show.

Animal testing will also be a central focus related to regulation. A number of countries in APAC — India, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan — have either banned cosmetics testing on animals in their respective countries or have announced their implementation plans to do so.

As a result, PCHi will feature a cosmetics testing conference. It will focus on various elements of interest including in vitro testing, product safety assessment and efficacy evaluation.

Recognising success

In a feature that will afford focus to those companies, formulators and suppliers who are going above and beyond to innovate, the show will play host to the Fountain Awards.

This is a selection of industry awards presented to companies in recognition of their product development contributions and are made possible with the help of the Cosmetics Science and Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC).

“PCHi turns 10...and this is undoubtedly an important milestone for us,” said Elynn Xu, project manager at RSE.
