Furthering global growth and product developments are two benefits Swiss buy Elag will bring to Ampac, said the packaging giant.

Joachim Antz, managing director of Ampac Germany said the flexible packaging firm was a “very good fit” with the firm’s current strategies.

Elag, like Ampac, provides flexible bag packaging for the food, chemical, petfood and health & beauty industries.

Antz said Elag’s strengths in flexo printing and its strong capability in pouching would significantly improve the company’s position in the European marketplace.

The company said the Elag acquisition follows requests from global customers to offer additional “high quality operations” as well as a solid backup position to handle their retort business.

A spokesperson for Elag told FoodProductionDaily.com the buy offered the firmwider global power and an extended product portfolio.

In terms of future investment, she said the company would continue to work on investment plans that had been established before the merger, but would not provide any further details.

Senior leadership teams in both firms will continue in their present roles, said Ampac.
