This week Procter & Gamble announced its annual list of top performing supply partners and a second, longer list of companies recognized with The External Business Partner Excellence Award.

‘Balanced growth’ is P&G’s primary, if not singular, objective. That’s the reason the company sold its Specialty Beauty Brands to Coty (a deal that closed earlier this month). And that’s what the company is aiming to arrive at in collaboration with suppliers from every sector: “We’re focused on getting back to balanced growth,” is the first thing David Taylor says in the media release about this year's honored suppliers.

“Our supplier partners have a key role to play in our ability to deliver top-line, bottom-line and cash,” Taylor adds. “The more integrated and connected P&G and our supplier partners are, the better able we are to be more innovative and productive in meeting consumers’ needs and, as a result, deliver balanced and sustainable growth and value creation for our shareholders.”

Top suppliers

P&G works with over 50,000 outside companies and agencies to source materials and services ranging from specialty chemicals, packaging, printing, technology, professional services, and much more.

Twelve such companies earned the honor of an Excellence Award. Of particular relevance in the personal care and cosmetics space are packaging production company Logoplaste, which makes Pantene bottles, and fragrance maker Firmenich.

The complete list of twelve follows:

  • EY
  • Fameccanica.Data S.p.a.
  • FIBERTEX PERSONAL CARE
  • Firmenich
  • Logoplaste
  • Nippon Shokubai Company Limited
  • Novozymes
  • PEGAS NONWOVENS
  • Rialto Enterprises Pvt. Ltd.
  • RONCHI MARIO S.p.A.
  • SUPERPAC, INC.
  • Technimark LLC

Key collaborators

For what P&G calls “consistent high performance,” the company recognized thirty two other suppliers with its External Business Partner of the Year award. Those suppliers include Dow, DuPont, Diamond Packaging, and Nihon Kolmar.

The P&G supply chain is in transition. “Part of our supply chain transformation has been altering the way we work with our external business partners, and I’m proud of the steps we’ve taken to co-locate and really become one integrated eco-system in supply chain management,” Stew Atkinson, the company’s chief purchasing officer, tells the press.

“We are at the beginning of this journey, but what we’ve achieved to date makes me excited for the possibilities of what we can accomplish together,” adds Atkinson.
