Makeup in Paris: 11 specialist workshops
With Makeup in Paris’s 2017 edition fast approaching, the show organisers have released a programme featuring eleven specialist workshops across sustainability, colour trends, and packaging.

Its eighth edition, this year’s show at the Carrousel du Louvre on 22 & 23 June is set to welcome over 160 exhibitors across the supply chain of makeup and skin care subcontractors.

We take a look at the workshop programme and pull out some highlights.

Forecasting and trends

BASF has teamed up with a leading colour authority, Pantone, and will be presenting their ‘most innovative trends for colour cosmetics formulations’. The BASF Spring/Summer 2019 trend forecasts, "Haven and Masterpiece", will provide colour palettes, textures, concepts, and formulations for inspiration, the ingredients manufacturer says.

Similarly, PeclersParis will be presenting its key beauty trends for 2018-2019 in a workshop, offering creative concepts, textures and ingredients for the winter season in a combination of macro trends, lifestyles and product concepts.

Sustainability

One workshop, organized by one of the leading European cardboard producers, the Finnish Group Metsä Board, will be aimed at showing participants all the advantages of a material whose production is fully driven by this notion of sustainable development.

“Complying as much as possible with environmental constraints is a daily challenge for brands. Content and container are inseparable. Everyone is accountable for his choice of ingredients, formulas, packaging and secondary packagings,” show organisers say.

This workshop will be hosted by Christophe Baudry, Commercial Director, Beautycare & Healthcare, Metsä Board and Anne Uusitalo, Sustainability Manager, Metsä Board.

Packaging

Cardboard is in focus in one key packaging workshop, led by Nordic paper Group Stora Enso. In this session, four converters specialized in the manufacture of boxes and set boxes will give their insights on ‘one of the biggest trends in recent months’, say organisers.

Make-up products increasingly benefit from the technical, visual and marketing performance of cardboard-based over packagings to attract consumers. Some countries such as Korea and Japan are leading the way in this area.” More information on the full programme of workshops cant be found here.
