Naturex reveals ambition to 'work outside a rigid model'
A year after publishing its' 'Sustainability Principles', Naturex has released its first 'Pathfinder' report which reveals the company's objectives in the area of sustainability.

The raw materials supplier published the first edition of the report with a focus on sourcing, operations, people and innovation.

According to the president of Naturex’s sustainability committee Serge Sabrier, the document reflects the company's ambitions to work outside of a rigid business model.

Our paths are not mapped; they’re made by listening to local people and understanding the particularities of an environment," he explains.

"This is what we stand for and how we behave as a company. These values form the basis of our behavior towards employees, suppliers, customers and shareholders,” he adds.

'Proximity, quality and respect'

According to Sabrier, Naturex puts the Pathfinder philosophy into practice by putting value of proximity, quality and respect at the heart of its procurement practices for raw materials.

He says for example, that the company encourages partners to collect only the secondary roots of devil’s claw in Namibia in order to preserve the resource.

As part of its operations, the group reconciles the demands of competitiveness while ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for employees and respecting the environment.

In regards to innovation, the report highlights the partnership between Naturex and the University of Avignon designed to develop eco-friendly extraction techniques.

The president of sustainability adds that from a social perspective, the company’s Foundation keeps expanding its actions in communities where Naturex sources and processes its raw materials.

“Our Pathfinder strategy is wide ranging and ambitious, but we are not daunted by the challenge," Sabrier says confidently.

"Sustainable business practices are not optional; they are essential, especially for the botanical ingredients sector to continue to thrive," he concludes.
