DSM Personal Care peptide production moves to France as Natrue certification also announced
The manufacturing process of DSM’s SYN-Peptides portfolio will transfer from its multipurpose plant in Aesch, Switzerland to its larger manufacturing facility at Village-Neuf France, enabling the producer to answer increasing demand in both new and existing markets.
DSM Personal Care says it is confident that it will further unlock the business potential of the SYN-Peptides portfolio, as the larger capacities of the Village-Neuf site make it possible to scale up production of peptides while maintaining high quality and service to customers around the globe.
Fuel growth

“Our R&D investments into this key technology along with our activities on the supply chain will help fuel the growth of our skin care business.”
Last year SYN-AKE and SYN-HYCAN peptides were listed in the Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China (IECIC), alongside the SYN-COLL peptide indexed earlier.
DSM says that this decision makes the portfolio even more attractive for personal care players focusing on a fast-growing Chinese market, as new scientific data and applications tailored to specific customer needs have significantly expanded the demand for these actives.
Natural boost
The news comes at a time, when the company also had an announcement regarding its sensory modifier Valvance Touch 210, which now complies with the Natrue criteria for natural cosmetic, natural cosmetic with an organic portion, and organic cosmetic products.
“There are an increasing number of customers globally who seek natural ingredients produced in a sustainable way,” says Dr Jochen Klock, Head of Global Marketing Sun Care at DSM.
“Natrue certification, complementing the product’s existing certification by Ecocert, provides a wider scope for customers who formulate using natural ingredients without having to compromise on the sensorial features of their products.”
Valvance Touch 210 is a silica-based sensory modifier designed for body and face care formulations even at very high UV protection factors, which thanks to the new certifications can also boost the sensory properties of natural and organic cosmetics.
