The new name captures the human orientation of its division and avoids confusion that may arise from the broader term 'fine chemicals', Safic-Alcan UK spokesperson Ken Jones told CosmeticsDesign.com.
Website redesigned with new additions
Alongside the name change, the France-based company has made a number of online alterations to provide customers with more detailed information about its products and services.
The Safic-Alcan Group has completely redesigned its website to include a history of the company, links to subsidiaries and an overview of its products and the markets it serves.
The new website also contains information about the impact of REACH and the steps that Safic-Alcan has taken to adapt to the new legislation.
REACH has been a source of anxiety for many companies and providing clear information to formulators will help make their lives easier.
Links to technical data added to personal care ingredients
Safic-Alcan UK has also made changes to its website by adding links to technical data for 22 of its personal care ingredients.
In addition to specifications, the links contain information on applications, properties and other aspects of the ingredients that may be of interest to manufacturers.
Jones said the information is free to access and does not require visitors to log-in making it easily accessible to formulators.
He added it also saves them from wading through pages of text in books and brochures.
On the Safic-Alcan UK website the personal care products with organic certification or approval are now also highlighted in green to make them easily identifiable.
