Developing markets such as those in Latin America are increasingly demanding up market packaging solutions, according to packaging supplier Rexam.

The UK-headquartered company provides packaging for the fragrance and beauty industries as well as other consumer goods sectors.

According to Rexam’s product manager for personal care Julie Verignon, upmarket solutions that give a high value, luxury feel to a product are becoming increasingly sought after in developing markets where personal income is rising.

Growing demand in developing markets

“As the worldwide leader in fragrance pumps, we see accelerating acceptance of, and demand for, upmarket packaging solutions in markets with large, growing populations and rising disposable income.”

The company argues, this is illustrated by a recent fragrance launch from Latin American direct sales player Unique – Yanbal International.

The Peruvian-based company has selected a Rexam plastic collar and actuator using the company’s Crimpless System as well as a natural dip tube for its new Psicodelia eau de toilette product.

Rexam’s low profile pump was decorated using a matt black collar and a black actuator with a bright pink insert.

“Our low profile pump fine mist pump provides the type of desirable end-user experience and high-fashion aesthetic that encourages trial and repurchase of launches such as the Psicodelia Eau de Toilette, which targets younger Latin American women,” said Verignon.

Unique-Yabal’s products are available in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela and Spain.
