German packaging supplier OEKAbeauty has teamed up with French company Cinqpats to develop an airless lipstick, that they reckon the colour cosmetics market is missing.
Frank Bierkandt, sales director at the cosmetic division of OEKAmetal group, and Cinqpats president, Jean-Louis Mathiez outlined the process of the new development at PCD in Paris earlier this week.
How it works
‘Rouge Passion’ although appearing as a traditional bullet lipstick, features a liquid formula and includes a new dispensing concept that is controlled during application by gentle finger pressing.
“We looked at the market and felt that it was high time for a new category for lip make up packaging,” says Bierkandt.
On reviewing current products on the market, the companies determined the need to create something that is easy and quick in terms of application, that protects its' formula, is intense in terms of colour well also being able to offer more liquid than the average lipstick.
“It is the first vile of its kind with dual injection, and the hygienic, airless system guarantees that no contamination gets into the lipstick,” Mathiez explains.
The mechanism is comprised of six parts developed by Cinqpats and is designed to be compatible with various materials including viscose or gel based liquids.
“This product allows the use of new formulas with natural preservatives and is also ideal for under-eye treatment or skin blemish treatment,” adds
Whilst the experts have been given the go ahead with a patent, and are ready to go with the product, they reveal that they are still waiting to get a brand onboard in order to start the production process.
Germany based OEKAmetal group has manufactured lipsticks cases, mascaras and lip gloss packs for the international cosmetics industry for more than fifty years, the entire production process is made in house, including the injection process and the development of applications.
Cinqpats specializes in cosmetic packaging innovation, which was founded by Jean-Louis Mathiez, Coty’s former director of technological innovation and previous packaging manager for L’Oreal.
