The latest launches from personal care and beauty packaging makers key in on industry trends such as convenience, personalization, and multifunction. Here Cosmetics Design explores a handful of the newest container offerings.

For use in categories ranging from personal care to luxury fragrance, these packing options highlight not only industry trends but also emphasize that familiar designs can be wisely reinterpreted for use with new products.

Form and function

Two new packing solutions intended for brands striving to meet consumer expectations with convenient or multifunction products come from Corpack and Premi.

Corpack launched its Twinpack design this week. It’s two containers 150ml containers in one unit, dispensing distinct products from either end. “The shape of the bottle can be adapted to every brand or design, allowing the use of existing cap and/or pump designs if desired,” explains the Corpack media release.

It’s a design meant to give personal care brands, retailers, and consumers the space saving convenience of two-in-one. Corpack suggest combinations as shampoo and conditioner or sun care and after-sun care products.

And the company already has plans to expand this design into a full line: “New forms and volumes (also asymmetrical) are planned in the near future.”

Late last month Premi introduced a new solution for multifunction products. That company saw fit to add a 30mL size pump spray or cream-dropper bottle to its Luxe line of containers.

“The new Luxe 30ml glass bottle is perfectly suited to this wide array of [multifunction] skin care formulations,” notes the Premi press release.

Fashion-forward

Brands looking for packaging with a more individualized feel have some new options thanks to GCC and WestRock.

Last week GCC unveiled a collection of thick-walled compacts color sprayed “inside the recess well of the container base, revealing the spray colour from the interior of the clear compact base” as the media release describes it.

The process adds “colour glow” to an array of compacts as well as to some cosmetic jars.

WestRock announced new fragrance decoration and customization options recently. “The new Creative Studio for Fragrance represents a sampling of dispensing solutions for fragrance – pairing decorative overtubes, WestRock’s NoC® invisible dip tube, and customized collars and actuators with new capabilities in extensions for spray caps – to create the ultimate aesthetic in an efficient, optimized way,” according to the company. It’s a move meant to help brands meet consumer expectations with expressive packages that give the impression of being made-to-order.

Forever sophisticated

An October launch from Chinese packaging maker CPL is a reminder that glass never goes out of fashion.

The company put forward a line comprising four jars (15ml, 30ml, 50ml, 100ml) and two bottles (30ml, 60ml) made of black toned glass. “CPL shows that less is more as the clear cut range is 100% black, yet dressed to impress in its chic simplicity,” according to the company.

CPL recommends these containers for luxury lines, neutraceuticals, and for any pale cream that would benefit from the stark color contrast of the black jar.
