Spain-based skin care provider Natura Bissé has launched a new skin care treatment that is claimed to be the first in the world to combine a glass bottle with an airless container.

The packaging innovation combines a glass bottle with a rigid Yonwoo airless container that was developed by France-based Quadpack to give the cosmetic company’s Diamond Life Infusion both a luxury touch as well as protecting the complex rejuvenating formula.

The formulation is a potent self-regenerating serum that is formulated with 16 ingredients that all target the renewal of skin cells to give skin a more youthful appearance.

In view of the complexity of these active ingredients, formula protection is essential to ensure product efficacy and claims, which was integral to the packaging design.

Quadpack designed around aesthetics and formulation integrity

“We relied on Quadpack’s professional team for the creation of an innovative packaging concept and they did not disappoint – they fulfilled all our requirements,” said Patricia Fisas, Natura Bissé’s marketing director.

Glass is often used for cosmetic and fragrance products targeted at the luxury end of the market, but here the combination of the airless container has helped to maintain the prestige of glass, with the heightened functionality of an airless container.

This container protects the formula from oxidation and external contamination that can deteriorate the formulation and reduce its ability to be used over extended periods of time.

Custom-made glass and plastic container

This plastic container is concealed by the glass bottle that has been custom-made to fit, and which follows Natura Bissé’s custom silver and black brand design for the Diamond Collection.

According to Quadpack, the packaging design has been pearlised, to maintain the transparency and reflection of the packaging’s outer wall, while a custom aluminium-sheathed collar holds all the componentry in place.

The final touch is the logo and lettering, which is subtly debossed around the top edge of the collar, while and aluminium-clad cap with ‘NB’ debossed in the centre provides the final touch to the overall aesthetics.
