M&H Plastics worked in partnership with Kings of London to develop the packaging for a new range of ‘quintessentially British’ products.

The range (see photo) includes three collections each with its own unique look, including products such as a face wash, a face balm, flawless hold hair gel and a shower gel.

Kings group x 4

According to Simon Watson, head of design at King of Shaves, the company behind Kings of London, the idea for the brand was to create a stylish product that remained affordable.

In order to answer this brief many of the containers were taken from M&H’s existing portfolio and the designs were printed via a combi press using 4 flexo colours and 3 silk screens.

When we started developing the brand concept our aim was to create an original and stylish collection of products at price point that men could afford to use everyday. M&H worked closely with us to meet this challenge enabling us to offera unique collection of contemporary yet affordable products,” said Watson.

Oxo-biodegradable product on the market

The company recently worked with another UK brand, Philip Kingsley, where it used its oxo-biodegradeable product for the first time.

M&H claims that the material allows it to offer plastic components that break down within 5-10 years, compared to the hundreds of years it would take standard polymers to degrade.

An oxo-biodegradable additive breaks down the polymer chains in the plastic to make them brittle, which allows it to break down easier than other plastics.

However, some critics of the material say oxo-biodegradable plastics are not any more environmentally friendly than their non degradable cousins as the impact of the plastics on the environment when they are broken down into smaller pieces remains unknown.

In addition, they are not suitable for conventional recycling nor composting, critics claim.
