Since it was unveiled at Cosmoprof Bologna last year, Lumson’s TAG – Techno Airless Glass System has undergone some changes and now features a new design and offers increased decoration options.

The Italy-based company claims to be the first packaging manufacturer to offer an airless system within a glass bottle.

According to the company, the airless system offers total formula protection, no product residue with a 95 per cent restitution rate, and the ability to dispense the product in any position.

New design as standard

According to Stefano Focolari, chief marketing officer for Lumson, a new pump design and overcap were created in order to give the illusion of a more complete object.

“As far as designs goes, the pump is a snap- on pump that has the same diameter of the bottle so it perfectly integrates with the bottle and so does the overcap,” he explained to CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

As every piece was designed to go together, the product is what is referred to as a ‘one body design,’ Focolari said. “It's like the pump is a continuation of the bottle and the overcap too,” he added.

The new design was developed by Lumson as a standard offering and companies can customize the pack with different decorating options.

Two new decoration options

Alongside the traditional decoration options that include hot stamping, metallization and customized colours, Lumson now offers two decorations that are only possible with the TAG system: the Glass Enhancer and the Mirror Effect.

The Glass Enhancer involves the application of a water-based spray colouring to the inside of the bottle, making the bottle instantly recognizable as glass, and the Mirror Effect uses a similar process to give a metallization (mirror) effect.

According to Focolari, the two decoration options are only possible with the TAG because the product is always contained within a pouch, and there is therefore no risk of contaminating the product with the lacquer.

Easy recycling

According to Lumson, the plastic components can be easily separated from the glass bottle, making the recycling of the packaging easier for the end consumer. After the product has been used up, the Eco-Lock system allows the pump to be easily unscrewed and the entire dispensing pump removed from the glass bottle.

Collistar is the latest cosmetics company to opt for the TAG system, using it for is Perfection Serum that is part of the Perfecta skincare line.

The bottle itself was customized with a dark blue water-based spray colouring and shiny gold hot stamping. The pump was decorated using gold UV metallization and the Collistar logo was hot stamped on the dark blue overcap.
